We Go Together…

Todd Dunn is a great friend of Eternal Hope Childrens Home! He is the author of this wonderful children’s book with half of the proceeds going to help support the orphanage. He just announced that the book is now available as a children’s board book! Check it out and while you’re at it order a few for the children in your life and help support Eternal Hope Childrens Home!! THANKS TODD!!

WE WELCOME YOU…TOGETHER WE DANCE!

The kids love to perform for visitors! This is a song they sing and dance to: “We welcome you to our orphanage; we welcome you together we dance”. They’ll then grab a visitor and have them get up and dance with them. They love it, especially when the men get up there and awkwardly try and mimic their movements. The drumming takes place in the back left corner. They use different size buckets and we brought with us drum sticks (thank you Beth and Adam!) for them to use since they kept breaking the cook’s spoons!

MEET OUR NEWEST KIDS!

GOING TO KENYA!

After waiting for a good fare and to make sure it would be a safe time to go, I’m heading to Kenya Feb 7th!! We need to do some administration things; with the kids at school we won’t be so distracted! We really aren’t collecting anything for this trip; the things the orphanage needs are big things that need to be purchased or built in Nairobi, like shelves, textbooks, kitchen gear, office supplies. Depending on how much money I can quickly collect will determine what we can afford to purchase. Anyone wanting to help out please let me know and we can arrange a deposit from your end or you can send a check. (Gosh I really hate asking for money…so awkward!) these things are very much needed and your help will be very much appreciated! Anything will help!! If you can’t help us this time, no worries, prayers are always needed and equally appreciated!!

JANUARY 28 • LONG BUT SUCCESSFUL DAY!

Oprah had a very long but successful day. Council Chief was very supportive, a small concession was made on our part to avoid dragging this into court. It’s looking good, final meeting will be the 31st. Thank you all for your prayers, I truly believe The Lord had His hand in this outcome and we are truly grateful for His tender mercy!

JANUARY 27 • PLEASE SAY A PRAYER FOR OPRAH!

Please say a prayer for Oprah tonight! Our previous landlord is giving us grief and demanding more money from us and all kinds of craziness. He is insisting that Oprah meet with the District Council to plead his case, so her Monday morning she’ll be there with all our documentation to defend the orphanage from this greediness. Depending on if the council has been bribed or if any of them belong to the same tribe as our landlord this could get crazy. Oprah is a fighter..especially when it comes to what is right and what is wrong, she will fight! Prayers for her courage to see this through and that it will all end on Monday so we can move on with life at the orphanage with out his threats.

JANUARY 17 • OUR NEW HOME!

Check it out…the pictures are posted on Facebook!

JANUARY 16 • REGISTERED FOR SCHOOL!

We finally were able to register the kids into their new school! Unlike the US, when kids transfer schools in Kenya the schools charge to have the kids evaluated as well as other fees such as testing fees, yep, you pay to take all your tests. This is how Kenya’s free government schools work. But we are so blessed that we can provide this opportunity for these kids. We thank everyone who is donating, your donation is helping these kids prepare for their future.  They love school and know education is the key to breaking the chain of poverty and crime in their lives.

DECEMBER 10, 2012 • ANXIOUSLY AWAITING…

We’re all waiting anxiously for pictures of the kids in their new home…so stand by! We can’t wait to see and hear how the kids like it! This is a huge step financially and we’ve been so blessed with support the past couple of weeks. Thank you to those who have heard and acted on our prayers!!
